Shortly after I'd written my last blog entry yesterday a friend told me that in order to do my laundry I'd need to come up with a certain amount of change to do my laundry because there's no way for me to do my laundry in my friend's actual apartment. So my friend and I both came up with the necessary amount of change I'd need for my laundry to be done. However since I walk with two canes and the laundry facilities were on-site at my friend's apartment complex he had to do my laundry for me. He felt bad about having to do my laundry for me because he knows that I'm used to doing my laundry on my own. However I'm not that bothered by the fact I need help with my laundry right now because staying with him is temporary. Although from the number of apartments he and I've looked at so far it doesn't seem like I'll be able to have a washer and dryer in my apartment. That's one reason I told my friend that I'd look into possibly renting a room from someone: because in that type of situation I may be able to have a washer and dryer in the actual place that I live in. Throughout the day yesterday I talked with a few different apartment complexes. When I asked one of the apartment complex staff members I spoke with what the square footage was of the apartment I'd inquired about, the guy didn't know the answer to my question. I found that really off-putting so I knew that I wouldn't want to give that particular apartment complex my business. Other apartment complexes I spoke with yesterday weren't within my budget and I'd need to have a roommate to even afford those particular apartment complexes to begin with. A little while after I'd looked into some apartment complexes I texted a friend to ask him if he'd cosign for me so that I could get an apartment because I'd probably need a cosigner. Even though I've had my own apartment for over 6 years I'll probably still need a cosigner simply because I don't make the amount of money that most apartment complexes want their tenets to make. Shortly after I'd texted that friend to ask if he'd cosign for me a different friend of mine told me that he'd been having a conversation with someone who was looking for a roommate. He'd found this person on a website which already had me feeling skeptical about the whole thing. Then to top things off the person wouldn't answer whether he or she was male or female. The person specified that he or she was looking for a female roommate but that was the extent of things. I told the friend who'd found this person on a website that I was skeptical of him or her from the beginning. The friend who'd found this person on a website didn't think anything was shady about the way this person was acting. I told said friend that my experience is what's lead me to be skeptical of things like finding a roommate on a website. A little while after that friend and I'd had a conversation with one another about the way this person was responding to a basic question I told him that my gut instincts were probably right: that the reason this person was not answering the question about whether he or she was male or female was likely because it was a male. I then told said friend that i wasn't even interested in continuing to pursue things with this person. Shortly after my friend and I'd finished having that particular conversation with one another I left the FB group for The Zone that someone had made me a member of without my consent. This morning I emailed the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) at the community college I'm going to be attending this summer. In the email I'd sent that particular department I asked the staff members if I could go ahead and make an appointment with a counselor. A little while after I'd sent that email to the OSD I called that particular department. The lady I spoke with at that particular department told me that I'd need to complete a welcome packet before I could make an appointment with a counselor. During that lady's and my conversation with one another she also told me that i'd need to have proof of my disabilities. So before my friend left to go to school for the day I asked him if he'd get a welcome packet for me from the OSD today while he was at the college I'm going to be attending. A little while after I'd sent my friend that text message he called me. During his and my conversation with one another he asked me if I'd like for him to get me a welcome packet from the OSD today. Of course I told him that that would be awesome. I then asked him if he knew whether the proof of disability that that particular department needed had to specifically be from a doctor. He said the proof of my disabilities could be anything at all, no matter how old said proof of my disabilities was. I then told him that I'd remembered that I'd brought a doctor's letter with me to this new state saying that i'm disabled. Shortly after I'd gotten off the phone with that friend I checked the medical folder I'd brought with me to this new state. Sure enough I found a doctor's letter saying that I'm disabled. Fortunately I found that particular letter easily through using Be My Eyes. That particular letter was the first thing I'd grabbed from my medical folder. Shortly after I'd gotten the proof of disability that I'd needed I received an email from a friend that contained the intake document that needed to be filled out for the OSD at the college I'm going to be attending. Unfortunately though since the file was in a Portable Document Format (PDF) I was unable to fill out the intake form. After I'd discovered that my MacBook Pro wouldn't allow me to convert the document into another format nor would my MacBook Pro allow me to select a different way to read the document besides PDF. I'd wanted to use pages on my Mac to fill out that form and read that form. That way I could likely email the form to the appropriate people in the OSD at the college I'm going to be attending sooner rather than later. I was able to read the contents of the intake form though which was nice because reading the intake form gave me an idea of what information I'd need to provide to the OSD. One of the things that the intake form asked for though was whether the student was a VR client. Since I hadn't heard from the guy who's supposed to be my VRC in this area though I didn't know what to write on the intake form. Shortly after I'd finished playing around with the intake form that needed to be filled out a friend texted me. In the text message he'd sent me he asked me what i'd wanted him to ask the OSD at the college I'm going to be attending. For some reason though my text message alerts weren't making sounds on my phone. So I texted said friend back as soon as I'd realized that I'd gotten a text message. In my reply to said friend I asked him to ask the OSD at the college I'm going to be attending whether I needed to have someone fill out the intake form for me or whether I could fill out the intake form myself then email the intake form to that particular department. After I'd sent said friend that text message though I realized that he was already in class by that point. A little while after I'd sent the last text message to my friend though he replied to my text. In the text message he'd sent me he said that the OSD said that I could fill out the intake form myself and bring in the proof of my disability to the college separately. In the same text message my friend also told me that he'd email me the OSD's email address so that I'd have it to refer to whenever I needed to do so. After I'd read that particular text message from my friend I replied to the message he'd sent me. In the text I'd sent my friend I'd asked him if he'd email me the intake form in a different format so that I'd be able to complete said form myself. Shortly after I'd texted my friend I called some more apartment complexes. One of the apartment complex staff members that I spoke with said that that particular apartment complex had a three year waiting list because that particular apartment complex was specifically for people who were on a low-income budget. Shortly after I'd gotten off the phone with that particular apartment complex I received a text message from the friend who'd purchased the AppleCare Technician Training for me. In the text message he'd sent me he said that he still hadn't received the refund from Apple. So I immediately replied to his text to let him know that last week Apple had told me that it may take up to a week for him to receive the refund from that particular company.
