In the blog entry I'd written where I'd last wrote about the email I'd sent to the iTunes Advisor trying to help me from Apple I forgot to mention that in my last email reply to that particular lady I asked her if I could give her my login information for Apple's website. That way she'd be able to visually tell me whether I could unsubscribe from receiving job-related emails from Apple. In the last few blog entries that I'd written about having gone to the college this past week to take an assessment I also forgot to mention that on one of the days I'd gone to the college someone from AIRA had returned my phone call. However the person from AIRA didn't leave an actual message that I could listen to. When I told my phone to play the voicemail that AIRA had left me all I could hear was the sound of static. A lot of static. It was kind of weird. At least I'd hoped that the person who'd called me from AIRA would've left me a message saying something. Within the past few days I've also been forgetting to mention that given last week's Uber incident where I couldn't find my key to the apartment I put my house and room keys in one pocket of my backpack and the key for this apartment I put in a totally different pocket of my backpack. So I have a much easier time finding the appropriate key now (whichever key that happens to be). Within the past few days I've also been forgetting to mention that I had a dream about a close friend of mine, one of said friend's sisters and I going on a train somewhere with one another. However that particular dream was a weird dream because my friend's sister was on a bicycle that was similar to a tandem bike except she was the only person who sat in the front. The rest of the people sat behind her...and I think that the weirdest part of this dream was the fact that the one bicycle seat was pulling a train behind it. Then all of a sudden my friend's sister decided that she didn't want to be controlling the train/bicycle anymore so she just got off of it. As she was getting off of this weird contraption though she told me that it was my turn to drive. It was the weirdest thing ever to be pedaling as if I was on a bicycle yet I was pulling a train behind me. At one point I even forgot to pedal and someone behind me had to tell me to continue pedaling. LOL. I said that that particular dream was a weird dream. In the blog entry that I'd written Friday I also forgot to mention that my BlueTooth keyboard completely died on me. I tried to use it to text or do something else on my phone and nothing happened. Literally nothing would work. Then I was kind of in a panic because I'd thought that I didn't have a small enough cable to charge my BlueTooth keyboard. Saturday when I was still half asleep I received a phone call from CVS Pharmacy. However I didn't answer the phone call because I couldn't get to my phone in time. LOL. It seems like it's been the case lately where I get calls that I don't want to answer or that I can't answer for one reason or another. Once I'd gotten up though CVS Pharmacy called me again. The second time that particular business called me I answered the phone call. The CVS Pharmacy employee that I spoke with informed me that one of my medications was not covered by my insurance company. So I asked him if there was a different version of said medication that CVS Pharmacy could switch me to that my insurance company covers. Fortunately the guy I spoke with said that there's another name for a similar medication which my insurance company covers. I gave him permission to switch me to that particular medication. Shortly after I'd gotten off the phone with a CVS Pharmacy employee a friend and I looked in my little backpack where I keep all of my electronic devices that I don't use regularly to see if there was a cable small enough to charge my BlueTooth keyboard. Fortunately there was one cable that was small enough for me to charge my BlueTooth keyboard with. As soon as I'd found said cable I put my BlueTooth keyboard on its charger. After I'd put my BlueTooth keyboard on its charger I completely turned all messages off on my phone (iMessages as well as other kinds of messages) because I wanted to see whether using that particular problem-solving method would reset my phone so that the text message alerts would sound every time I received a text message. It's too early for me to say whether that particular trick worked but I'm definitely hoping for the best. Once I'd turned on the ability for my phone to receive all messages again I went through the mail that I'd received. It Turned out that my insurance company had sent me something in print saying that said insurance company wants me to choose a particular insurance plan for myself. Fortunately that print notice provided a phone number that I could call to get said business to send me another form. However I'm going to call that particular number to ask if those people would inform me of what kinds of insurance plans I have to choose from. Because it isn't like I have sighted people around me all the time who can read print items whenever I need print items read or filled out. I'd also received the blank application from a local DMV in this city. However since I'd already filled out said application I don't need to hold onto the blank application. A while after I'd gone through the mail that I'd received I asked the friend that i'd emailed the Travis County Court link to if he'd ask an acquaintance of mine who's sighted if he'd print out said form and then help me fill out said form. So said friend texted my acquaintance and asked him if he'd print out the form I needed to have printed out. Thankfully my acquaintance printed out the form for me and once he'd finished tutoring a friend of mine he filled out the form for me. Hopefully he'll email said form to the court in Austin soon. Yesterday morning I received a reply email from the county I'm in. In the email the person from the county had sent me he or she gave me the contact phone number for my Case Manager. Given the fact that I'm well aware that insurance companies are not truly there to help the people I'm not too excited about having to call my Case Manager. A while after I'd read the email I'd received from someone at the county office a friend and I looked into buying tickets for an Ed Sheeran concert that's going to be coming up in the next few months. However the website that we were going to buy the tickets from was not accessible with VO on my Mac. My friend even tried seeing if VO on his phone worked with the ticket-purchasing website. However VO on my friend's phone didn't produce any better results for us. So I'm not sure if we're going to be able to go to the Ed Sheeran concert. I really hope we can though. The rest of that day was uneventful, probably because it was a weekend day. Early this morning I received a call from the OSD at the college I'm going to be attending. The person who'd called me from the OSD wanted to remind me about my appointment with the Academic Counselor a little later in the day. Of course I told the person who'd called me from the OSD that I'd be there for said appointment with the Academic Counselor. A little while after I'd gotten ready to leave the apartment I called Uber to request a ride. Unfortunately though that particular Uber driver was a shitty navigator. He took me to the college I'm going to be attending which was correct. The part of that particular destination that he'd gotten wrong though was that I needed to go to the OSD. I tried to tell him how to get there but it was like he couldn't comprehend what I was saying. I even called the OSD during my ride with him to see if he'd listen to their directions. He didn't though...and he even asked several other people in addition to getting directions from me as well as from the OSD. I don't know what finally clicked in his brain but he eventually found exactly where I needed to go. I was a few minutes late to my appointment with the Academic Counselor but fortunately she understood what had happened with the crappy Uber driver I'd had. And even more good news: during hers and my meeting with one another she looked up exactly what classes I'd need to take for my current major of sociology and my eventual major of social work. She told me that I wouldn't need to take the reading 99 class for either of those majors which made me happy. I then told her that I already know that my current Math skills are below college level so I think it would be to my advantage to take a remedial Math class. That way I'll have a foundation that I can build on for whenever I take the higher-level Math courses that are required for either of my majors. She thought that was a fabulous idea and found a remedial Math course that I could take at said college in the fall along with English 101. So in the summertime of this year it seems that I'm going to start off by taking English 100 A by itself. Then in the fall semester is when I'll take two classes (a remedial Math class as well as English 101. I told the Academic Counselor at the college that I didn't want to take the Math portion of the assessment if I don't have to and she told me that since I already know I'm going to take a remedial Math class in the fall I don't have to take the Math part of the assessment. That news also made me happy. During my meeting with the Academic Counselor this morning she also outlined all of the classes that I'm going to need to take for my major as well as the classes that I'll need to take at the community college level before I transfer to a local state university. She even emailed me said information so I'm going to look through it before I next talk with her or email her on the 20th of this month in order for her to tell me when my priority registration date will be for summer classes. Shortly after I'd completed my meeting with the Academic Counselor at the college I then asked the women who work in the OSD to please cancel my Math assessment for tomorrow. The lady I'd told that to said she'd also let my reader know that I wouldn't need him for tomorrow. After I'd made sure that that was taken care of I called Uber to pick me up from the college. That particular Uber driver I'd had though was not very good. The first thing she'd done wrong was that she'd gone to my destination instead of where I was currently located at. So it was a good thing that she'd called me to find out where I was. However it took a little bit longer for her to finally meet me at the college because she was probably using the wrong map for navigation. When she'd arrived at the college though I told her that I needed to go to CVS Pharmacy to pick up medication. It turned out that she'd gone to the CVS Pharmacy that was across the street from the CVS Pharmacy inside of Target (which was actually the one I needed to get to). So I told her not to worry and just take me to get some food to eat at a drive-thru somewhere. She took me to Panda Express because that particular fast food place is so close to the apartment I'm staying at. Then once she'd arrived at the apartment complex she took forever to find the apartment that I'm staying at. During my conversation with that particular Uber driver, said Uber driver kept marveling at the fact that I'm totally blind and moved from one state to another state by myself. Sighted people, this is not something that's amazing because I'm blind. I'll tell you what is amazing though: the fact that I was able to get away from my abuser several years ago. That particular thing is amazing, not because I'm blind but because it's hard for people to get away from his or her abuser (whether the abuser is a mother, a husband, a boyfriend ETC). What's also amazing in my story is the fact that I have a fucking backbone and I'm determined to make something of myself. Once I'd gotten into the apartment I found out that the Uber driver had charged me what I'd thought was entirely too much money for the entire trip I'd done. So I contacted Uber in the hopes that said business would give me a refund on said trip I'd taken. A little while after I'd contacted Uber about possibly getting a refund for the last trip I'd taken I called the local CVS Pharmacy to find out what that particular pharmacy's hours were for the day. It turned out that that particular pharmacy doesn't close until 7:00 in the evening so I'm hoping that UPS will deliver my Samsung gift card to me before that time.
