More Exciting Updates And Frustration
Saturday, February 17th, 2018 11:56 amShortly after I'd written my last blog entry on Thursday I finished reading The Happiness Trap. As I'd said in my last blog entry that particular book was definitely worth the read. Shortly after I'd finished reading The Happiness Trap I started to read a book called If The Buddha Dated. Unfortunately though I can't get into that particular book so I probably won't continue reading it. That evening I completed online orientation for the college I'm going to attend because it's required that I complete online orientation before I actually enroll to said college. Plus I'm not the type of person who likes to do things at the last minute. The online orientation consisted of me having to read passages about the school I'm going to be attending. Then I had to answer questions about that particular college to show the staff who work at that college that I understand what that college has to offer as well as what resources are available to me as a student at that college. It took me an hour or so to complete the online orientation though. Fortunately though I was able to complete the online orientation totally on my own which was refreshing. Shortly after I'd finished the online orientation for my school a friend and I played around with Alexa for a little while. One of the games that my friend and I played on Alexa was a game where we'd try to answer questions and get points for the questions we answered. He and I both did pretty badly with all of the games we played on Alexa though. LOL. Another game my friend and I tried to play on Alexa was Jeopardy. I think he and I actually got one or two questions right which was surprising but cool considering that we just guessed what the possible answer could be. Another game he and I played on Alexa though was a game where we tried to be a detective and find a criminal. That particular game was pretty cool because we were able to play against someone else. Although unfortunately my friend and I sucked at that particular game too. LOL. Yesterday morning I got up and immediately Googled Austin Community College Rio Grande campus so that I could have my unofficial transcripts sent to the college I'll be attending. I was able to send an email to Austin Community College Rio Grande campus and ask if the staff who works there would send my unofficial transcripts to the college I'll be attending. In the email I'd sent Austin Community College Rio Grande campus I let the staff who works there know that I wanted them to send my unofficial transcripts electronically to the school I'm going to be attending. After I'd requested my transcripts from Austin Community College Rio Grande campus be sent to the community college I'm going to be attending in this state I Googled Louisiana Tech so that I could figure out how to have my transcripts sent to the college I'm going to be attending. Unfortunately placing the order for Louisiana Tech to send my transcripts to the college I'm going to be attending was a pretty lengthy process. Fortunately though I was able to process the order successfully. I was also able to have Louisiana Tech send my transcripts directly to the college I'm going to be attending. Unfortunately I have no idea how I did in any of the college courses that I took years ago though. I'm hopeful I at least did awesome in one or two of the college classes I took because I know I always did the work well. I also know that there were at least one or two college classes that I thoroughly enjoyed taking. Yet I'm kind of nervous to find out what my grades were in all of the college classes that I've taken. Shortly after I'd completed the task of starting the process of getting my transcripts from other colleges I've attended I received an email from Apple. In the email the Senior Advisor handling my case had sent me she wanted to let me know that the refund of the AppleCare Technician Training should be on its way to the card that that particular training was purchased from. In the same email though she said that it may take up to a week for my friend to receive the refund on his card. So after I'd read the email from the Senior Advisor at Apple I texted the friend who'd purchased the AppleCare Technician Training for me to let him know to be on the lookout for the refund from Apple. A little while after I'd told my friend to be on the look out for the refund from Apple I emailed the apartment complex that I'd scheduled an appointment with for Saturday afternoon. In the email I sent that particular apartment complex I told the staff members who work there that after looking at my budget I wouldn't be able to afford said apartment so I'd like for my appointment to be canceled. Shortly after I'd sent that email to that apartment complex a friend of mine contacted someone who goes to the college that I'm going to be attending to ask the person what resources that particular college has available to help students with housing-related needs. A few minutes later the person texted my friend back with the name of an organization that that particular college refers its students to. So once I'd gotten the name of said organization I Googled it. Fortunately I found what I was looking for right away so I then emailed someone who works for that particular organization. In the email I sent to the person who was listed as the contact person for that organization I told the guy that I'd recently moved to this state and that I'd need help finding housing because I was going to attend a community college this summer. A little while after I'd emailed this person I called the person who's supposed to be my VRC to see if he and I could talk about the case of mine that has yet to be opened. Unfortunately though I got his voicemail. So I left him a message letting him know that I'd already been accepted to this particular community college and that I'd like to know what else he needed from me. Shortly after I'd sent him that email I heard from the guy I'd emailed about the fact I need help with housing assistance. In the email he'd sent me he let me know that he'd forwarded my email onto the person who does people's intake paperwork. I then replied to his email to ask him if he knew how long it may take before I hear from the person who does the intake paperwork for people. In the same email I also asked him what the actual process was for people who use this particular resource for housing-related assistance. Just for fun in the evening I looked at other universities in this state to see if there were any other universities that have my major. There weren't any other universities that have my major except one of the ones I'd mentioned in previous blog entries I've written. This morning when I got up I checked Twitter to see whether Samsung had responded to the tweet I'd sent that particular company the other day or to the DM that I'd sent that particular company recently. Someone had responded from Samsung but unfortunately with no good news for me. The lady from Samsung who'd responded to my DM said that Samsung's system shows that the refund was sent to me on October 28th 2017. In the same DM the lady also asked me if I checked my mail so of course I told her that I checked my mail every day and had never received anything from Samsung. I don't know why the fuck companies first go-to is to blame the customers when it's actually the company who's at fault. This is fucking ridiculous though and at this point I'm thinking that I'm never going to receive a refund from Samsung. Ugh. This sucks, especially considering that I could really use every bit of money right now. Since i now have a solid plan for what I want to go to college for and since I know which university I want to go to after a year's time is up I knew that looking at the website that a friend had recently shown me would be a good next step for me to take. So shortly after I'd read the DM that Samsung had sent me this morning I checked the website that my friend had recently shown me. Once I was on the website I selected the college I'm going to start attending from a combo box. I then selected the university that I want to attend after a year of attending a community college. That particular thing was also selected from a combo box. Then the third combo box that I selected something from was what I want to major in. Given that I want to major in social work this particular website was able to tell me the kinds of courses that I want to focus on as it relates to my General Education (GE) requirements. Since I'd selected the exact university that I want to attend after attending community college I was also able to learn that these courses that were listed were for my exact major of social work. In other news I haven't actually gone to the college I'm going to attend yet because the timing hasn't been right. What I mean in saying that the timing hasn't been right is that my friend goes to the particular college I'm going to be attending and for most days out of the week his schedule is packed. So I want to be able to go to said college at a time when he only has class for an hour or so. That way I can get done whatever I need to get done at the college and he and I can leave the college together once his classes have finished for the day.
