Thoughts And Moving Forward Slowly But Surely
Tuesday, February 27th, 2018 03:09 pmIn the last blog entry that i'd written on Sunday I forgot to mention that a friend and I talked with one another about the bad dream I'd recently had about my blood relatives. The friend I'd talked to about said bad dream thought that it was possible that in having that particular bad dream my brain was trying to make peace with the trauma that my blood relatives have caused me to endure. I thought my friend's observation was interesting. Although I wish that those kinds of bad dreams would go away to be honest. A while after I'd written my last blog entry on Sunday I finished reading How To Be A Person In The World: Ask Polly's Guide Through The Modern Paradoxes Of Life. Although in the last blog entry that I'd written on Sunday I don't think I mentioned what that particular book was about. So I'm going to tell my blog readers what that particular book was about now: How To Be A Person In The World: Ask Polly's Guide Through The Modern Paradoxes Of Life was a book where people would pose questions of all sorts to Polly and Polly would answer those people's questions in a brutally honest way. That particular book wasn't a book that made me think but I needed a break from books that made me think which is why I read that particular book. Some time after I'd finished reading that particular book a friend and I talked with one another about how I should continue to look for a roommate from here on out. What I'd decided to do was to write up a roommate wanted add myself and then give said roommate wanted add to said friend to post on the bulletin board at the college I'm going to be attending. The reason I thought to go this particular route was because I may have better luck writing up a roommate wanted add myself because if I'm able to find a female roommate to share an apartment with I won't have to worry about finding someone to cosign for me. Shortly after said friend and I'd talked about the next tactic I planned to use to look for a roommate this same friend told me about a free game that's fully accessible to blind and visually impaired people. The game is called A Blind Legend and is an audio adventure where a blind swordsman has help from his sighted daughter to find his daughter's wife who went missing. At least I think that's the correct description of A Blind Legend. However I'll explain the game again if it turns out that my description of the game is incorrect in any way. Something interesting about A Blind Legend though is the fact that it's advisable for people to use headphones when playing said game because the game uses what I'd call 3D audio. What I mean in saying that A Blind Legend uses 3D audio is that within the game there are sounds that are sometimes heard from people's left sides or people's right sides. So depending on where people hear the sounds in the game from, is where he or she touches the iPhone's screen. And in case anyone who's blind may want to play A Blind Legend I'll tell you now that that particular game is free in the app store. Yesterday morning I checked my email as I always do when I first get up every day. It turned out that I'd received an email from Apple regarding the latest job postings that Apple had posted to that particular company's website. I immediately looked at the bottom of said email to see whether there was a link that would allow me to unsubscribe from receiving those kinds of emails in the future. Unfortunately though there was not a way for me to unsubscribe from those kinds of emails within the email message itself. After I'd discovered that there was not an unsubscribe link in the job postings email from Apple I called the number that I'd put in my phone for 2-1-1 Texas. Unfortunately though the number I'd called was not the correct phone number. So I Googled exactly what I was looking for and was able to find the correct number easily. Once I'd called the correct number for 2-1-1 Texas out-of-state and finally started to speak with a customer service representative though my phone dropped the call. So I had to call said number again because I wanted to get this taken care of ASAP since I'm no longer in Texas. Fortunately the second time I called that particular number I was able to take care of business. The lady I first spoke with told me that she'd put in an address change for me. Then once she'd put in an address change for me she said that she'd transfer me to another department. According to that lady the department that she'd transfer me to was going to be the department that would update my case to reflect that I no longer live in Texas. Things seemed to have gone smoothly with the lady I spoke with from Texas 2-1-1 as well as with the guy I spoke with from Texas 2-1-1. The guy I spoke with during that particular phone call informed me that I'd receive a letter in the mail within three to five business days that would notify me that my case with the state of Texas had closed. A little while after I'd gotten off the phone with the people from Texas 2-1-1 I received an email from FAFSA. In the email that FAFSA had sent me I was informed that one of my FAFSA applications had been sent to both colleges that I'd listed on my FAFSA application. Shortly after I'd received said email I emailed the agency I'd first emailed about help finding housing. The reason I'd emailed that particular agency again was because I wanted to ask that particular agency if I could have help finding housing from them given the fact that I'm disabled. In the same email I'd sent that particular agency I told the guy that I'd been told by the intake person from that particular agency that I couldn't have help from said agency because I'm too old but that I wanted to ask said agency whether the fact I'm disabled would allow me to receive help from said agency. While I was in the middle of sending that particular email though I received another email from FAFSA informing me that my other FAFSA application had been sent to both colleges that I'm going to be attending. Shortly after I'd received both emails from FAFSA saying that both FAFSA applications had been sent to each school I'm going to be attending I wrote up a female roommate wanted ad that reads as follows: Female Roommate Wanted! My name is Chelsea and I’m looking for a female roommate to share an apartment with. I attend ((name of college I'm a student of) and I’m in my 30s. I do not drink or smoke and I want my female roommate to share those values. If you are interested in sharing an apartment with me please contact me at (school email address). Shortly after I'd written up said female roommate wanted ad I texted what I'd written to a couple friends because I wanted to make sure that what I'd written was good enough. One of the friends I'd texted the female roommate wanted ad to responded shortly after I'd texted it to him. He said that what I'd written was fine. So once I'd gotten one of my friend's approval for the female roommate wanted ad that I'd written I then emailed said female roommate wanted ad to a friend of mine who attends the college that I'm going to be attending. That way said friend would be able to post my female roommate wanted ad on the bulletin board at the college I'm going to be attending. Shortly after I'd sent the female wanted ad that I'd written up to a friend who attends the college I'm going to be attending I heard from the other friend I'd texted to check if what I'd written was good. In the text that said friend had sent me he told me that what I'd written looked good to him. A little while after I'd sent the writing of my female roommate wanted ad to a friend who attends the college I'm going to be attending, said friend brought me food for lunch. The food my friend brought me was not the best-tasting food ever but it tasted okay. Shortly after I'd finished eating lunch I emailed someone from the OSD at the college I'm going to be attending. In the email I'd sent to the person in the college's OSD I gave him the latest update on the situation where financial aid was concerned. In the same email though I also asked him if he'd be willing to post the female roommate wanted ad on the college's bulletin board or any other places that he may think of. Shortly after I'd emailed him I received an email from the guy I'd written earlier in the day from the first agency I'd contacted about helping me find housing. In the email that the guy had sent me he'd suggested that I contact the local shelter here just as the other guy I'd spoken to from said agency had suggested. Shortly after I'd read that email from the housing-assistance guy that recommended I contact the local shelter in this city I Googled something like "Unsubscribing from Apple's job posting emails." Fortunately I found exactly what I was looking for right away. I immediately unsubscribed from Apple's job posting emails. Once I'd unsubscribed from those particular emails I'd read on Apple's website that my unsubscription may take up to 10 days to actually process. A while after I'd unsubscribed from job-related emails from Apple I searched the app store on my iPhone for A Blind Legend. Fortunately I found said game right away and immediately downloaded said game onto my iPhone. Shortly after I'd downloaded A Blind Legend onto my iPhone I played said game for a bit. Fortunately A Blind Legend walks people through how to move forward, backwards and left and right in the game. However even though the game was telling me that I was moving correctly as I was guided how to move by a voice telling me which direction to go and when to go I still didn't feel confident in how to move within the game. So I'm going to need to play with A Blind Legend some more to really become familiar with how that particular game works. This morning when I drank my cup of coffee I decided to eat an apple with peanut butter on it. However the only way that I could think to eat an apple with peanut butter on it as a blind person who sucks at spreading things on bread was to put peanut butter on a spoon then take a bite of the apple and peanut butter together. That particular method worked well. The only trouble came when one of my teeth started hurting. I should get a crown or something on that tooth now that I have insurance. I fucking hate going to the dentist though. Shortly after I'd finished eating what I was going to eat of the apple and drinking my cup of coffee a friend of mine told me about a website he'd found where people are told who the person is that he or she'd be renting a room from. Like, the website said friend of mine had found literally tells people the person's name who posted the add on that particular website. That sounds fantastic to me, especially because I don't like not knowing who I'm dealing with. Shortly after I'd had that particular conversation with a friend I Googled the transcripts office for the college I'm going to be attending because I wanted to see if that college would tell me whether they'd received both of my transcripts from both colleges I'd attended in the past. However I was unable to find a way to contact the college I'm going to be attending online. So I called the college I'm going to be attending and spoke with someone in the transcripts office. The lady I spoke with said that that particular college had received my transcripts from Louisiana Tech University. Since I'd ordered my transcripts from Austin Community College to be sent electronically to the college I'm going to be attending though the lady I spoke with informed me that someone in the transcripts office would have to call me back in order to let me know whether or not the college I'm going to be attending had received my transcripts from Austin Community College. I said that would be fine. A little while after I'd gotten off the phone with a lady from the transcripts office I called the college I'm going to be attending again. This time though the reason I called the college I'm going to be attending was because I wanted to ask someone in the financial aid office whether that particular department had received my FAFSA applications yet. I told the lady I spoke with that I'd received a notification from FAFSA within the past day or so saying that my FAFSA applications had been sent to the college I'm going to be attending. The lady I spoke with in the financial aid office then told me that it takes two weeks give or take, for the college I'm going to be attending to actually receive my FAFSA applications. According to the lady I spoke with in the financial aid office, the college I'm going to be attending will contact me once said college has received my FAFSA applications. Then once the college I'm going to be attending contacts me, whoever I speak with will let me know what additional steps I may need to take. That's kind of frustrating but I try to remind myself that this kind of stuff takes time to happen. Like, even though I'm as proactive as I can be with regards to getting myself set up for going to school, there are still things that are not within my control that need to take place in order for me to be able to attend school. Shortly after I'd gotten off the phone with a lady from the financial aid department of the college I'm going to be attending I emailed the college I'm going to be attending. In the email I'd sent to said college I asked if someone could tell me how to successfully add my school email account to my iPhone. Because it's such a pain in the ass to use Safari (the iPhone's internet browser) on my iPhone. The reason I say that using Safari on my iPhone is a pain in the ass is because it's time-consuming for me to enter in my login information every single time I want to check that particular email account. A little while after I'd emailed the college I'm going to be attending I called the paratransit company to ask when I was scheduled to be picked up tomorrow. The paratransit agent I spoke with informed me that I was scheduled to be picked up by paratransit at 8:00 in the morning. Shortly after I'd gotten off the phone with someone at the paratransit company I looked into how to order my transcripts so that I could have my transcripts sent to the school I'm currently a student of. Unfortunately though the process was complicated. I chatted online with someone at Austin Community College who gave me my user ID information. However when I logged into Austin Community College's website I was unable to navigate that particular website successfully. So I then exited out of the chat window and as I was exiting out of Austin Community College's online chat I received a phone call from my current Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) in San Antonio Texas. During his and my conversation with one another he told me that he was going to close my case since I'd moved out-of-state. However he then informed me that the VRC who serves the area and state that I live in now could request whatever records he wanted from San Antonio once he opens up a case for me here in the new state I live in. Shortly after I'd gotten off the phone with my VRC in San Antonio Texas I Googled something like "Austin Community College, how to obtain transcripts." I was able to email Austin Community College and ask if someone from said college would help me fill out a transcript order request. Shortly after I'd emailed Austin Community College to ask for their help in getting this taken care of I received a call from someone from Austin Community College. The lady I spoke with from Austin Community College helped me fill out a form so that Austin Community College would send my transcripts to the school I'm currently a student of. The lady I spoke with then told me that it would take 7 to 10 days for the school I'm currently a student of to actually receive my transcripts from Austin Community College. Ugh. Damn!
